Skis Riddles

December 30, 2014 By Stephen Pepper

Today we have a few riddles for children where the answer is ‘skis’.

These are therefore perfect for using with some of our other riddle themes like snow, winter, sports and transport.

The first three of these are rhyming riddles, with the third one being completed by the word ‘skis’, while the final one asks your kids “What Am I?”

To use the What Am I riddle, have them read the first line (or read it to them yourself) and get them to guess what the answer is.

If they’re not correct, move on to the second line and guess again. Keep going until they either guess correctly or they run out of clues.

You put these on your feet
Whenever you go
To the top of mountains
To slide down the snow

~

To have fun in the winter
Head to a mountainside
Strap these on to both your feet
So downhill you can glide

~

To travel down some snow
You could always use these
Go up a mountainside
And come down on two _ _ _ _

~

What am I

I’m usually found on a mountain but I’m not a yeti
I’m long and thin but I’m not a hiking trail
I help you to go downhill fast but I’m not a set of wheels
I get put on your feet but I’m not a pair of socks
I help you slide on frozen water but I’m not a pair of ice skates

Advent Calendar Riddles

December 18, 2014 By Stephen Pepper

When the weather’s bad outside during the winter and you need to keep your kids entertained, why not give them some of our riddles to solve.

We have lots of riddles with a Christmas theme, with today’s set having ‘Advent Calendar’ as their answer.

The first couple of these are rhyming riddles, while the final one is a What Am I? riddle.

To use that one, read the first line to your children (or have them read it) and get them to guess what they think the answer is.

If they’re not correct, read the second line and guess again. Keep going until they either work out the correct answer or they run out of clues.

Open this everyday
For something that can’t be beat
Behind each of the doors
You will find a tasty treat

~

This is a candy filled treat
That can be found in stores
In the run-up to Christmas
And has twenty-four doors

~

What Am I?

I have numbers on me but I’m not a phone
I have several doors but I’m not a car
I’m on display in December but I’m not a nativity scene
I’m not seen after Christmas Day but I’m not a cookie for Santa
I often contain chocolate but I’m not an Easter egg

Scarf Riddles

December 11, 2014 By Stephen Pepper

Here are several riddles for kids that have an answer of ‘scarf’.

These will therefore go well with our riddles with a winter, weather or clothing theme.

The first two of these are rhyming riddles, while the third one asks What Am I?

To use the What Am I riddle, read the first line of it to your kids and have them guess the answer. If they’re incorrect, read the second line and have them guess again. Keep reading each of the clues until they’ve either worked out the correct answer or they run out of clues.

When it starts to get chilly
This item is what’s chosen
To be wrapped around your neck
So it doesn’t get frozen

~

When it is cold outside
You’ll find yourself a wreck
Without this woven thing
To wrap around your neck

~

What Am I?

I’m long but I’m not a hose pipe
I’m seen at Christmas but I’m not a Christmas tree
I’m made of fabric but I’m not a stocking
I help keep you warm but I’m not a coat
I go around your neck but I’m not a necklace

Christmas Wreath Riddles

December 9, 2014 By Stephen Pepper

Here are three riddles for kids where the answer is a Christmas wreath.

The first two of these rhyme, while the third is a What Am I riddle. For the latter one, read the first line of the riddle to your child(ren) and see if they can guess the correct answer.

If they can’t read the second clue and have them guess again. Keep going until they get the correct answer or they run out of clues.

These ideas can be used with all of our other Christmas riddles, although they can also work with other themes like nature or winter.

It can be made from evergreens
Pine cones, berries and it’s round
On the front door of someone’s house
At Christmastime it is found

~

This ring is made of leaves,
Flowers, fruits, twigs and more
And then at wintertime
It hangs on your front door

~

What Am I?

I’m round but I’m not a wheel
I’m seen in December but I’m not Santa
I’m usually green but I’m not a pea
I’m made of twigs, flowers and leaves but I’m not a bird’s nest
I can be found on the front door of a house but I’m not a doorbell

Nativity Scene Riddles

December 4, 2014 By Stephen Pepper

Here are three rhyming riddles for kids where the answer is ‘Nativity Scene’ or ‘Nativity Set’, as well as a ‘What Am I?’ riddle.

With the third ‘complete the riddle’ option, the answer would need to be ‘Nativity Scene’ in order for it to rhyme.

These are all perfect for using with our other Christmas riddles, when organizing a Christmas scavenger hunt at home or around your neighborhood or during some kind of Sunday School / kids church Bible game or activity.

These should be easy for children to solve, especially if they’re given during December when their minds will already be on the festive season.

Nativity Scene Riddles For Kids

This may seem like a strange mix
But it’s there for all to see
With parents, shepherds and kings
Some animals and a baby

~

This has three people holding gifts
And a few animals maybe
Plus shepherds, parents and angels
And in the center, a baby

~

If there are shepherds and a baby
Three kings but not a queen
It probably means you’re looking at
A  _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _     _ _ _ _ _

~

What Am I?

I have a baby boy but I’m not a parent
I have animals but I’m not a zoo
I have a star but I’m not a solar system
I have angels but I’m not heaven
I have shepherds but no fields
I’m displayed in December but I’m not a Christmas tree
