Cupid Riddles

January 27, 2015 By Stephen Pepper

It’s coming up to February 14th, so here’s the first in a series of riddles for kids with a Valentine’s Day theme.

The first set of Valentine’s riddles that we have today all have Cupid as their answer.

The first five of these rhyme (with the word Cupid completing the rhyme of the fifth), while the final one is a What Am I? riddle.

To use the last one, your child should read the first line and guess what they think the answer is. If they don’t get it on their first go, they should read the second line and guess again. They should keep going until they either get the correct answer or run out of clues.

Cupid Riddles For Kids

He’s a little angel
Who has a pair of wings
With his bow and arrow
True love is what he brings

~

Keep an eye out for this cherub
On the coming Valentine’s Day
If he shoots you with his arrow
Falling in love might come your way

~

On February fourteenth
You may see him flying around
He’s the Roman god of love
His archery skills will astound

~

He might see him flying around
As he’s an angelic baby
If you get hit by his arrow
Then will you fall in love? Maybe!

~

If you see this baby flying around
Don’t worry – you’re not being stupid
For if he’s shooting a bow and arrow
Then it means that you can see _ _ _ _ _

~

What Am I?

I have wings but I’m not a bird
I have a bow and arrow but I’m not Robin Hood
I’m a Roman god but I’m not Mars
I look like a baby but I don’t wear a diaper
I’m associated with love but I’m not a heart

Lighthouse Riddles

January 22, 2015 By Stephen Pepper

Today we have some riddles for kids where the answer is ‘Lighthouse’.

These are therefore great for using with all of our other sailing riddles, or if you’re wanting your children to answer clues about different types of buildings.

The first two of these rhyme, while the third idea is a What Am I riddle?

To use the final option, your child should read the first line and guess what they think the answer is. If they’re incorrect, they should read the second line and guess again. They should keep going until they either get the right answer or they run out of clues.

We need to warn sailors
When there are rocks close by
So we build this building
That shines out from up high

~

I am a type of building
And from the top I shine
I warn sailors about rocks
So that ships will be fine

~

What Am I?

I’m tall but I’m not a basketball player
I’m thin but I’m not a flagpole
I shine but I’m not the sun
I help sailors but I’m not an anchor
I’m a building but I’m not a skyscraper

Ship And Boat Riddles

January 15, 2015 By Stephen Pepper

Here are a few riddles for kids where the answer can either be ship or boat.

These are therefore good for using with some of our other riddle themes like pirate, sailing and different modes of transport.

The first two of these rhyme, while the third is a What Am I? riddle. To use the final idea, your kid(s) should read the first line and guess the answer.

If they’re not correct, they should read the second line and guess again. Your children should keep going until they either get the right answer or run out of clues.

If you want to be a pirate
You will need this without fail
So that you can travel around
You need something you can sail

~

You will need this type of transport
To be able to leave a port
You can then float upon the water
And cast nets for fish to be caught

~

What Am I?

I have a deck but no backyard
I have a bow but no arrows
I have a wheel but I’m not a car
I have a beam but I’m not a light
I have a stern but I’m not serious
I have a crow’s nest but there are no birds

Parrot Riddles

January 13, 2015 By Stephen Pepper

Are you planning a pirate themed birthday party for one of your kids or need to organize some activities with a bird theme?

If so, today’s set of riddles could be just what you’re looking for as the answer to each of them is parrot.

The first four are rhyming riddles, with the word ‘parrot’ completing the rhyme of the fourth.

There’s also a bonus fifth riddle that asks What Am I? To use this one, have your child read the first line (or read it to them) and have them guess what they think it is. If they’re incorrect, read the second clue and guess again. Keep going until they either guess the correct answer or they run out of clues.

5 Parrot Riddles For Kids

This is a certain type of bird
But it is not a hawk
It sits on a pirate’s shoulder
While letting out a squawk

~

If you ever hear an echo
Another voice that can be heard
Take a look around you because
It might be this colorful bird

~

It sits on a pirate’s shoulder
And doesn’t ever fly away
The funniest thing about it
Is that it repeats what you say

~

This is a bird that talks
Did he say that he’s a carrot?
Oh, I must have misheard
He is actually a _ _ _ _ _ _

~

What Am I?

I’m colorful but I’m not a rainbow
I’m sometimes found on a shoulder but I’m not a bag strap
I have two legs but I’m not an ostrich
I can talk but I’m not a person
I can fly but I’m not an airplane

Polar Bear Riddles

January 1, 2015 By Stephen Pepper

Here are a few riddles for kids where the answer is ‘Polar Bear’.

These could either be used as standalone riddles or with riddles of a similar theme like animals, winter or nature.

The first two of these rhyme, while the final one asks children the question “What Am I?”

To work out the What Am I riddle, they should read the first line and guess what they think the answer should be.

If they’re not correct, they should read the second line and take another guess. Have them keep going until they either get the right answer or they run out of clues.

And I have fur that is white
I live in water and on ice
And have a very strong bite

~

What Am I?

I’m white but I’m not snow
I like to swim but I’m not a fish
I’m a large mammal but I’m not a whale
I’m furry but I’m not a dog
I live near the north pole but I’m not Santa
