Key Riddles

Our series of household item riddles continues today with a set of riddles for kids that all have a key as their answer.

The first five of these are rhyming riddles, while the sixth is a one line riddle that has a rhyme internally.

The seventh idea is a What Am I riddle. To use that one, read the clue that’s on the first line to your kids and ask them to try guessing what they think it is that’s being described. As the clue is that it’s something that gets cut but doesn’t bleed, they might guess that it’s a vegetable, a piece of fruit or their hair.

If they don’t guess that the correct answer is a key, read them the clue that’s on the second line and have them try guessing again. Keep doing this until they either guess that a key is the answer or they run out of clues.

Television Riddles

We’re continuing with our series of riddles for kids about household items with another item that you might find in a living room – a television.

The first three of these are rhyming riddles (with the word ‘television’ completing the rhyme of the third), while the fourth is a one line riddle that also has an internal rhyme.

The fifth and final one of these is a What Am I riddle. To use that one, read the clue that’s on the first line to your children and ask them to guess what they think the answer might be. As the clue is that it’s something that has a plug but which isn’t a sink, they might guess that it’s a bathtub, vacuum cleaner or phone charger.

If they don’t guess that the answer is a television, read them the second clue and have them take another guess. Keep doing this until they either guess that a television is the correct answer or they run out of clues.

Sofa Riddles

Our series of household item riddles for kids continues today with six that all have a sofa as the answer. These are therefore also great for using with our other living room and furniture riddles.

A couch is also an acceptable answer, except with the third riddle as one of its clues is that it’s also known as a couch. If you’re in the UK, feel free to accept a settee as the answer.

The first four of these are rhyming riddles, while the fifth is a one line riddle which also has an internal rhyme.

The sixth riddle asks your children What Am I? To use that idea, read the clue that’s on the first line to your children and have them attempt to answer it.

As the clue is that it’s something with a back but which isn’t a camel, there’s a good chance that they’ll guess that it’s some other kind of animal. If they don’t guess that the answer is a sofa, read them the second clue and get them to take another guess now that they have the extra information.

Keep doing this until they either work out that a sofa is the answer or they run out of clues.

These are therefore also great for using with our other winter riddles and for things that you might find in a living room.

The first four of these are rhyming riddles, with the word ‘fireplace’ completing the rhyme of the fourth.

The fifth and final one listed below is a What Am I riddle. To use that, read the clue that’s on the first line to your kids and have them take a guess at the answer.

As the clue is that it’s something that can keep you warm but which isn’t a scarf, they might guess that it’s a sweater, jacket or hat. If they don’t guess that it’s a fireplace, read them the second clue and ask them to guess again now that they have some extra information. Keep doing this until they either realize that a fireplace is the answer or they run out of clues.
