Snow Riddles

December 17, 2013 By Stephen Pepper

Here are many different riddles for kids where the answer is snow (or snowflakes).

These are therefore perfect for using with many of our other riddle themes like:

  • Christmas
  • Weather
  • Winter
  • Nature

There are also many different types of riddles listed below:

1. Rhyming – Most of these riddles rhyme. For a couple of them, the rhyme is completed by the word ‘snow’, which should help your kids to work out the answer.

2. One Line – This one is a little bit harder, so is probably better for using with older kids.

3. What Am I? – For this one, read the clue that’s on the first line to your kids and get them to guess what they think the answer is. If they don’t guess correctly, read out the second clue and have them guess again. Keep going until they either get the right answer or run out of clues.

9 Snow Riddles For Kids

Snow Riddles For Kids

Dropping down from the sky
More beautiful than rain
There are no two pieces
That ever look the same

~

It isn’t hail
And it isn’t rain
But you love to see
This white stuff again

~

It’s made up of flakes
But it doesn’t come from corn
Way up in the clouds
Is where all these flakes are born

~

When it’s cold in winter
This is something you love
It’s like tiny white stars
Falling from up above

~

On a winter’s day
When a cold wind does blow
You might get to see
This white stuff that’s called _ _ _ _

~

The best thing about winter
Is when outdoors you go
And have a fight with your friends
Using balls made out of _ _ _ _

~

No matter how far
You travel or hike
You’ll never find two
Flakes of this alike

~

This type of winter precipitation always has a unique variation

~

What Am I?

I fall but I never get back up
I’m unique but I’m not a fingerprint
I’m sometimes part of a ball but I’m not leather
If I get warm enough I go away but I’m not a winter wardrobe
I’m sometimes part of a man but I don’t have any skin

With enough winter flakes
Two or three spheres is your goal
Then you can make this friend
With a scarf, carrot and coal

~

You have to make him quickly
Not much time to have some fun
He won’t stick around for long
Once he’s been out in the sun

~

He has a scarf and sticky arms
An orange nose and dark black eyes
The amount of stuff on the ground
Will help to determine his size

~

You’ll start making him
By getting on a roll
Then adding a scarf
A carrot and some coal

~

You’d better make him quickly
When there’s white stuff on the ground
Because he disappears
When the sun’s heat comes around

Icicle Riddles

November 16, 2013 By Stephen Pepper

Here are several riddles for kids that have the answer ‘icicle’.

These are great for using with many of our other riddle themes – ideas like:

  • Winter
  • Weather
  • Nature

Most of these rhyme, with the word ‘icicle’ completing the rhyme at the end of the third riddle.

The final one is a What Am I? riddle. To use this with your kids, read them the clue on the first line and get them to guess what they think the item is that you’re describing. If they guess incorrectly, read them the second clue and have them guess again.

Keep going until they either guess the correct answer or they run out of clues.

If you’re outside in the winter
And you are walking around town
You might see this item caused by
Water frozen while dripping down

~

If you want to make this item
Then it should be a breeze
Just have some water dripping down
And then you make it freeze

~

These natural items tend to be straight
Just like the spokes on a bicycle
They’re formed by dripping water that’s frozen
Which means that it’s called an _ _ _ _ _ _

~

What Am I?

I point downwards, but I’m not a stalactite
I’m spiky but I’m not on a cactus
I glisten but you’ll never see me in the summer
I’m frozen but I’m not a broken games console
I’m made of H20, but I’m not the ocean

4 Snow Angel Riddles For Kids

Snow Angel Riddles For Kids

If you lay down in white flakes
Out in the winter air
Move your arms and legs about
What is it you leave there?

~

This is something everyone loves doing
It can always take away a frown
It looks just like you’re doing jumping jacks
Outside in the winter laying down

~

After the snowflakes have fallen
Laying in it is on my mind
Moving my arms and legs around
What is it that I leave behind?

~

What Am I?

I’m white but I’m not a sheet of paper
I’m something you leave behind but I’m not litter
I’m found on the ground but I’m not a sand castle
I’m made of precipitation but I’m not a puddle
I’m made by you moving your arms and legs but I’m not a jumping jack

6 Gloves Riddles For Kids

Gloves Riddles For Kids

If it is icy outdoors
There’s a good chance you just might
Want to put these on your hands
So you can avoid frostbite

~

If you have a winter jacket
That covers your body and arms
It’s also worth wearing these things
To keep warm your fingers and palms

~

If you become a boxer
You hope that every punch lands
You will wear these items though
So that you protect your hands

~

When it’s deep in winter
You will find it pleasing
To have these on your hands
So that they’re not freezing

~

Thieves who break into people’s homes
Don’t ever want to leave a trace
So they might wear these on their hands
So prints aren’t left for a police case

~

Surgeons, skiers, thieves and boxers all wear me for different reasons
