Horse Riddles

August 6, 2015 By Stephen Pepper

Our series of animal riddles for kids is continuing today with ten of them that all have ‘horse’ as their answer.

This also means that these can be used with many of our other riddle themes such as sports, transport, farm and nature.

The first eight of these rhyme – with the fourth one, the word horse completes the rhyme. There’s also a one line riddle and a set of What Am I? questions.

With that final idea, read the first line to your children and ask them to guess the answer. The clue about four legs might mean they guess a table, chair or any number of different animals.

If they don’t guess that it’s a horse, read them the clue on the second line and have them guess again. Continue doing this until they either guess correctly that you’re describing a horse or they run out of clues.

10 Horse Riddles For Kids

Horse Riddles For Kids

I am a type of animal
Some say that I have a long face
I’m very good at running fast
So people ride me in a race

~

A stallion’s a male
A female is called a mare
You can ride on one of these
On a carousel at a fair

~

On the head and neck of these creatures
You will see that they have quite long manes
It’s best not to hold on to those though
Instead you should hold on to their reins

~

I am a tall animal
I run with a lot of force
I also canter or trot
You can ride me – I’m a _ _ _ _ _

~

When you startle one of these
Off it gallops like a shot
Once this animal’s slowed down
It will then canter or trot

~

You might sometimes see this animal
With a jockey riding on its back
Trying to run as fast as it can
While going round and round a track

~

Before there were cars and trains
This was how people got around
They’d get up on a saddle
Take its reins and then hooves would pound

~

I might be found on a farm
But I’m not known as swine
I run round in a field
And I’m known as equine

~

If you live next door to this animal, it’ll hopefully be a good neigh-bor

~

What Am I?

I have four legs but I’m not a dog
I can run fast but I’m not a cheetah
I like carrots but I’m not a rabbit
I have a mane but I’m not a lion
I can be ridden but I’m not a motorcycle

Tire Riddles

February 12, 2015 By Stephen Pepper

Here are six riddles for kids where the answer for each one is ‘tire’.

These ideas are therefore perfect for using with our other riddles that have a transport theme.

The first five of these are rhyming riddles (with ‘tire’ completing the rhyme of the fifth), while the sixth asks What Am I?

To use the final riddle, your kids should read the first line and take a guess as to what they think the answer is.

If they’re incorrect, have them read the second clue and guess again. Keep going until they get the correct answer (or they run out of clues).

6 Tire Riddles For Kids

Tire Riddles For Kids

Found on a car
Goes round and round
Made of rubber
It’s on the ground

~

You won’t be able
To travel far
If one of these goes
Flat on your car

~

A unicycle has one
A bicycle has a pair
A car has four of these things
And they are all filled with air

~

There’s four of these on your car
Once it has been created
Front and back and left and right
They should all be inflated

~

When you suffer a flat one of these
Your situation could be dire
If when you bring your car to a stop
You find you don’t have a spare _ _ _ _

~

What Am I?

I’m round but I’m not a doughnut
I can go flat but I’m not a can of soda
I’m made of rubber but I’m not a duck
I leave tracks in the dirt but I’m not an animal
I’m found on a car but I’m not a steering wheel

Ship And Boat Riddles

January 15, 2015 By Stephen Pepper

Here are a few riddles for kids where the answer can either be ship or boat.

These are therefore good for using with some of our other riddle themes like pirate, sailing and different modes of transport.

The first two of these rhyme, while the third is a What Am I? riddle. To use the final idea, your kid(s) should read the first line and guess the answer.

If they’re not correct, they should read the second line and guess again. Your children should keep going until they either get the right answer or run out of clues.

3 Ship And Boat Riddles For Kids

Ship And Boat Riddles For Kids

If you want to be a pirate
You will need this without fail
So that you can travel around
You need something you can sail

~

You will need this type of transport
To be able to leave a port
You can then float upon the water
And cast nets for fish to be caught

~

What Am I?

I have a deck but no backyard
I have a bow but no arrows
I have a wheel but I’m not a car
I have a beam but I’m not a light
I have a stern but I’m not serious
I have a crow’s nest but there are no birds

Skis Riddles

December 30, 2014 By Stephen Pepper

Today we have a few riddles for children where the answer is ‘skis’.

These are therefore perfect for using with some of our other riddle themes like snow, winter, sports and transport.

The first three of these are rhyming riddles, with the third one being completed by the word ‘skis’, while the final one asks your kids “What Am I?”

To use the What Am I riddle, have them read the first line (or read it to them yourself) and get them to guess what the answer is.

If they’re not correct, move on to the second line and guess again. Keep going until they either guess correctly or they run out of clues.

4 Skis Riddles For Kids

Skis Riddles For Kids

You put these on your feet
Whenever you go
To the top of mountains
To slide down the snow

~

To have fun in the winter
Head to a mountainside
Strap these on to both your feet
So downhill you can glide

~

To travel down some snow
You could always use these
Go up a mountainside
And come down on two _ _ _ _

~

What am I

I’m usually found on a mountain but I’m not a yeti
I’m long and thin but I’m not a hiking trail
I help you to go downhill fast but I’m not a set of wheels
I get put on your feet but I’m not a pair of socks
I help you slide on frozen water but I’m not a pair of ice skates

Sled Riddles

December 23, 2014 By Stephen Pepper

Here are four rhyming riddles for kids where the answer is ‘sled’.

These riddles are therefore ideal for using with many of our other riddle themes, including those that are about

  • Winter
  • Snow
  • Transport

4 Sled Riddles For Kids

Sled Riddles For Kids

If you find it’s snowy
Don’t fall like Jack and Jill
Instead you can use this
So you can slide downhill

~

To get somewhere in the arctic
And have the wind blow through your hair
Just stand on this and some huskies
Will be able to pull you there

~

To have fun in the cold winter
You need a snowy hillside
Then climb up to the top with this
So down the hill you can slide

~

Take it to the top of a hill
When there has been some snow
Once at the top then sit on it
And downhill you will go
