As well as strawberries

Towel Riddles

May 7, 2015 By Stephen Pepper

For the last few weeks we’ve been publishing many different riddles where the answers are all household items and more specifically things that you would find in a bathroom.

We’re bringing that series to an end for now with today’s set of riddles for children which all have ‘towel’ as their answer.

The first three of these are rhyming riddles, the fourth is a one-liner and the fifth asks What Am I?

To use that fifth idea, have your kids read the first line and attempt to guess what’s being described. If they’re incorrect, have them move on to the second clue and take another guess.

They should keep going until they either work out that the answer is towel or they run out of clues.

You always make me get wet
But not because you make me cry
It is because my purpose
Is to ensure that you get dry

~

You always bring me to the beach
So you don’t have to lay on the sand
Then once you’ve been in the water
With drying you, I help lend a hand

~

You use this every day
Many times I would bet
The more that you get dry
The more that it gets wet

~

I can be used to dry any tears that you cry

~

What Am I?

I’m rectangular but I’m not a kitchen table
I’m usually made of cotton but I’m not a T-shirt
I absorb water but I’m not a sponge
I’m sometimes used at a beach but I’m not a bucket
I’m found in a bathroom but I’m not a toothbrush

Soap Riddles

May 5, 2015 By Stephen Pepper

We’re currently publishing a series of riddles that are all items you can find around the house, with all the recent ones being items that you can find in your bathroom.

That series continues today with several riddles for kids where the answer is ‘soap.’

The first three of these rhyme, with the fourth asking What Am I? Here’s how to use that final idea:

Read the first line of it to your children and ask them to guess what they think it is that you’re describing. If they’re not correct, read them the second clue and ask them to guess again.

Keep doing this until they either realize that the answer is soap or they run out of clues.

If your hands get really messy
And dirt is all that can be seen
Then use some of this with water
To help make sure your hands get clean

~

This can create a lot of bubbles
And comes as a liquid or a bar
If you never use any of this
Then people will smell you from afar

~

When I am mixed with water
Then I can perform magic
As I make dirt disappear
Leaving things clean is my trick

~

I get used many times a day
Mixed with plenty of water
Each time a bar of me is used
I get a little shorter

~

What Am I?

I’m sometimes a bar but I’m not made of gold
I’m sometimes a liquid but I’m not something you drink
I can create bubbles but I’m not a can of soda that’s been shaken
I help you to get clean but I’m not a shower
I’m found by a sink but I’m not a faucet

Toothbrush Riddles

April 30, 2015 By Stephen Pepper

If you need some fun indoor activities to use with your kids, why not set them some riddles about items they can find around the house.

We’re currently publishing a series of household item riddles which can all be found in the bathroom, with today’s set all having the answer of ‘toothbrush.’

The first three of these rhyme, while the fourth is a What Am I? riddle. To use that final idea, read the first line to your kids and get them to guess the answer.

If their first guess isn’t correct, read them the second clue and get them to guess again. Keep doing this until they either give toothbrush as the answer or they run out of clues.

When looking at these items
You will see some bristles
They get put inside your mouth
But they are not whistles

~

These things don’t get sticky
Even though they’re used with paste
They get used twice a day
And gives mouths a minty taste

~

In every person’s bathroom
These are things that will be seen
For these are used with Colgate
To keep your teeth white and clean

~

What Am I?

I have bristles but I’m not a beard
I have a handle but I’m not a door
I have a head but I don’t have any eyes
I’m sometimes electric but I don’t light up
I have paste put on me but I don’t get sticky
