Sticky Tape Riddles

September 10, 2015 By Stephen Pepper

We’re continuing our series of riddles with a school theme today with some where the answer is sticky tape.

These therefore also go well with our other riddles with an office or household item theme.

The first two of these rhyme, with the third being a What Am I? riddle. To use that third option, read the clue on the first line to your children and have them guess the answer.

As it refers to something coming on a roll which isn’t toilet paper, they might guess that it’s a roll of wrapping paper or paper towel. If they didn’t guess that the answer is sticky tape, read them the clue on the next line and have them guess again.

Keep doing this until they either guess that the answer is sticky tape or they run out of clues.

If you’re needing something adhesive
As attaching stuff is your goal
Then make sure you come looking for me
As I am always on a roll

~

I am something which is used
When you’re wrapping up someone’s gift
Because I am adhesive
It means the paper doesn’t shift

~

What Am I?

I come on a roll but I’m not toilet paper
I’m often clear but I’m not a window
I’m often put in a dispenser but I’m not handsoap
I help you wrap a gift but I’m not a pair of scissors
I have adhesive on one side but I’m not a postage stamp

Stapler Riddles

September 8, 2015 By Stephen Pepper

We’re continuing our series of school riddles for kids today with a few where the answer is a stapler.

The first couple of these are rhyming riddles, while the third asks your children What Am I?

To use the last option, read the first line to your kids and ask them to guess what it is that you’re describing.

As it refers to pressing something down, they might guess that it’s a hole punch, a car horn or another item. If they don’t guess that the answer is a stapler, read them the clue on the second line and ask them to guess again.

Continue with this until they either guess correctly or run out of clues.

Fill me up with metal
And let me do my thing
Get some sheets of paper
I’ll have them attaching

~

This is something you’ll find on a desk
It’s used to fix one sheet to another sheet
Put the paper in it and push down
And it’ll bend around two metal feet

~

What Am I?

I get pressed down but I’m not a button
I’m made of plastic and metal but I’m not a food blender
I have a spring inside but I’m not a bed
I bend pieces of metal but I’m not a steel worker
I keep pieces of paper together but I’m not a paper clip

Pencil Sharpener Riddles

September 3, 2015 By Stephen Pepper

Our series of school riddles continues today with three where the answer is a pencil sharpener.

The first two of these rhyme, with the third being a What Am I? riddle. To use that last idea, read the clue on the first line to your kids and have them guess the answer.

As they have to guess something that’s sometimes electric, it’s doubtful that they’ll give a pencil sharpener as the answer. If that’s the case, read them the second clue and have them guess again.

Keep doing this until they either guess correctly or they run out of the clues.

I’m not a razor
But have a blade
I unblunt items
That have a grade

~

If you have leaded writing instruments
Then this is something that you need for sure
Just put one in it and turn it around
And it’ll mean it’s not blunt anymore

~

What Am I?

I’m sometimes electric but I’m not a car
I have a blade but I’m not made a razor
I stop things from being blunt but I don’t have knives put in me
I’m found on a desk but I’m not a stapler
I have writing instruments put in me but I’m not a pencil case

Bulldog Clip Riddles

September 1, 2015 By Stephen Pepper

Our series of riddles for kids with a school theme continues today with a few where the answer is a bulldog clip.

The first two are rhyming riddles while the third asks What Am I? To use that third riddle, read its first line to your kids and ask them to guess what they think it is that’s being described.

As it’s something that’s silver colored, they may guess silverware, a car, a shelving unit or any number of other objects.

If they don’t guess that it’s a bulldog clip, read them the second line and ask them to take another guess. Keep doing this until they either guess correctly or they run out of clues.

Bulldog Clip Riddles

Despite my name
I do not bite
Having said that
I grip things tight

~

I can often be found on a desk
Its first word is a canine breed
I’m silver colored and hold paper
If a tight grip is what you need

~

What Am I?

I’m silver colored but I’m not a piece of jewelry
I have a tight grip but I don’t shake your hand
I’m found on a desk but I’m not a stapler
I hold paper together but I’m not a paper clip
I have a canine breed as my first word but I’m not a Greyhound bus

Ruler Riddles

August 27, 2015 By Stephen Pepper

Our series of school riddles for kids continues today with five that all have ‘ruler’ as their answer.

The first five of them rhyme, with the fifth asking your kids What Am I? To use that last idea, read the first clue to your children and ask them to guess the answer.

There are a lot of items that are made from plastic, so it’s unlikely that they’ll guess that the answer is ruler. If they do indeed guess incorrectly, read them the clue on the second line and ask them to guess again.

Keep doing this until they either guess the right answer or they run out of clues.

Contrary to my name
I am not a queen
Hold me up to things though
And their length is seen

~

If you need to know the length of something
And want to make sure your guess isn’t wrong
Then use this thing made of wood or plastic
And which is usually 12 inches long

~

Centimeters along one edge
And inches on the other side
It can be used to draw straight lines
Or measure how long or how wide

~

If you need to draw a circle
Use a compass to make it great
And if you need to draw a line
Use this item to make it straight

~

What Am I?

I’m sometimes made of plastic but I’m not a bottle
I’m sometimes made of wood but I’m not a table
I have a straight edge but I’m not a door
I have measurements on me but I’m not a swimming pool
I’m usually 12 inches long but I’m not a shoe
