Rainbow Riddles

February 24, 2015 By Stephen Pepper

Carrying on with our St Patrick’s Day theme, today’s set of riddles all have an answer of ‘rainbow.’

These ideas would fit in with many of our other themes though, like the Wizard Of Oz, Christian, weather and more.

The first five of these are rhyming riddles, while the last one asks your kids What Am I?

To use the final idea, get your children to read the first clue and guess what they think the answer is.

If they’re incorrect, have them read the second line and guess again. Keep going until they either answer correctly or they run out of clues.

Violet, indigo and blue
Red, yellow, orange and green
At the end of this object
A pot of gold can be seen

~

This natural phenomenon
Cannot be seen when it is dark
For it’s caused by light hitting rain
To create a colorful arc

~

You see me in the air
But I am not a kite
I am what’s created
When water refracts light

~

To reach the land of Oz
Go ‘somewhere over’ this
To where the bluebirds fly
And your home you will miss

~

You might see this in the sky
By a waterfall it’s lower
Some say that it was first seen
After a flood by Noah

~

What Am I?

I’m curved but I’m not a banana
I’m mentioned in the first book of the Bible but I’m not a snake
I’m colorful but I’m not a parrot
I’m mentioned in a Wizard Of Oz song but I’m not a Yellow Brick Road
I’m found near a leprechaun but I’m not a pot of gold

Shamrock Riddles

February 17, 2015 By Stephen Pepper

It’s not long until St Patrick’s Day, so our next few sets of riddles will all be related to that theme – here are the rest of our St Patrick’s Day riddles.

To kick us off, here are some riddles where the answer is ‘shamrock’. The first two of these rhyme, while the third idea asks What Am I?

To use the third riddle with your kids, read them the first line and ask them to guess what they think it is that you’re describing. If they’re incorrect, read the second clue and ask them to guess again.

Keep going until they get the right answer (or until you run out of clues to give them).

This is a type of green plant
That you will see on display
During March as it is the
Symbol of St Patrick’s Day

~

If you visit Ireland
And decide to fly over
You might see these small green sprigs
Which are a type of clover

~

What Am I?

I’m green but I’m not a bottle of Sprite
I have leaves but I’m not a tree
I’m a symbol of Ireland but I’m not a harp
I’m seen on St Patrick’s Day but I’m not a leprechaun

Roses Riddles

January 29, 2015 By Stephen Pepper

Carrying on with our Valentine’s Day theme, here are some riddles for kids where the answer for each one is rose or roses.

The first four of these are rhyming riddles (with the word ‘roses’ completing the rhyme of the fourth), while the fifth asks What Am I?

To use the final idea, your kids should read the first line and take a guess at what they think the answer is. If they’re incorrect, they need to read the second clue and guess again. They should keep going until they guess correctly or run out of clues.

A vase is what
This usually adorns
Be careful though
As it might have some thorns

~

This is a flower
Someone gives to you
It’s said these are red
While violets are blue

~

These flowers can be yellow
And sometimes orange, pink or white
But when it’s Valentine’s Day
Giving a red one is most right

~

These are a type of flower
That are pleasing to our noses
To someone you love you might
Give them a bouquet of _ _ _ _ _

I have a stem but I’m not a wine glass
I get seen a lot on Valentine’s Day but I’m not a stuffed animal

Polar Bear Riddles

January 1, 2015 By Stephen Pepper

Here are a few riddles for kids where the answer is ‘Polar Bear’.

These could either be used as standalone riddles or with riddles of a similar theme like animals, winter or nature.

The first two of these rhyme, while the final one asks children the question “What Am I?”

To work out the What Am I riddle, they should read the first line and guess what they think the answer should be.

If they’re not correct, they should read the second line and take another guess. Have them keep going until they either get the right answer or they run out of clues.

Christmas Wreath Riddles

December 9, 2014 By Stephen Pepper

Here are three riddles for kids where the answer is a Christmas wreath.

The first two of these rhyme, while the third is a What Am I riddle. For the latter one, read the first line of the riddle to your child(ren) and see if they can guess the correct answer.

If they can’t read the second clue and have them guess again. Keep going until they get the correct answer or they run out of clues.

These ideas can be used with all of our other Christmas riddles, although they can also work with other themes like nature or winter.
