Coin Riddles

January 17, 2017 By Stephen Pepper

Here are six riddles for kids where the answer is a coin, so these are great for using with our other money riddles.

The first five of them are rhyming riddles, while the sixth asks your children What Am I?

To use that final idea, read the first line of it to your kids and have them take a guess as to what they think the answer might be. As the clue is that it’s something that has writing on it but which isn’t a piece of paper, they might guess that it’s a billboard, a TV screen or a road sign.

If they don’t guess that a coin is the answer, read them the second clue and ask them to take another guess. Keep doing this until they either work out that the answer is a coin or they run out of clues.

6 Coin Riddles For Kids

Coin Riddles For Kids

I’m something made of metal
Although I am not a bell
I am something that is round
You throw in a wishing well

~

Although this item is never half
It can sometimes be a quarter
If you come across a wishing well
You might throw it in the water

~

I am something that is round
But I don’t ever tell the time
I’m often found in a purse
I might be a penny or dime

~

This is something small and round
Your piggy bank might have many
As it can be a quarter
A dime, nickel or a penny

~

Although I am not a salad
I am something that can be tossed
When you need to buy something cheap
I might be used to pay its cost

~

What Am I?

I have writing on me but I’m not a piece of paper
I have a head but I’m not lettuce
I’m made of metal but I’m not a robot
I have a tail but I’m not an animal
I can be tossed but I’m not a salad

Gold Riddles

February 16, 2016 By Stephen Pepper

We’re continuing our series of metal riddles today with seven that all have gold as their answer.

Some of these riddles for kids can also be used with several of our other themes, such as those about colors, jewelry and sports.

The first six of them are rhyming riddles, with the seventh asking your children the question What Am I?

To use that last idea, read the clue that’s on the first line to your children and have them guess the answer. As the clue is that it’s something that is sometimes found in a pot but that isn’t a stew, they might guess that it’s a plant, soup or tea.

If they don’t work out that you’re referring to a pot of gold, read them the clue on the second line and have them guess again. Keep going until they either work out that the answer is gold or they run out of clues.

It is something very shiny
And is a valuable metal
If you win at the Olympics
It’s the color of your medal

~

I’m sometimes made into a coin
And sometimes into an ingot
When at the end of a rainbow
I am what is inside the pot

~

Some people bite into it
But it is not a carrot
It is a precious metal
That’s pure 24 karat

~

I’m in many types of jewelry
Like the chain of a necklace
In the tale of Rumpelstiltskin
He could spin straw into this

~

If you get this kind of medal
It means that you’ve done the best
I am the kind of coins you find
In a buried treasure chest

~

This has been known to cause a rush
But it’s not a Black Friday sale
It’s a yellow precious metal
Weighed in troy ounces on a scale

~

What Am I?

I’m sometimes found in a pot but I’m not stew
I can be a bar but I’m not soap
I’ve been known to cause a rush but I’m not a Black Friday sale
I’m a type of metal but I’m not tin
I can be a medal but I’m not silver

Pot Of Gold Riddles

February 19, 2015 By Stephen Pepper

Carrying on with our St Patrick’s Day theme, here are a few riddles for kids where the answer is ‘Pot Of Gold’.

The first two are rhyming riddles, with the third being a What Am I? riddle.

To use the final idea, get your child (or children) to read the first line and guess what it is that they think is being described.

If they’re not correct, they should read the second line and guess again. Keep going until they guess the correct answer or run out of clues.

This is a large container
Which has a shiny hoard
It is where a leprechaun
Has all of his coins stored

~

If you can ever reach the end
Of a big colorful rainbow
You should find something valuable
Of which leprechauns won’t let go

~

What Am I?

I’m hidden but I’m not an Easter egg
I’m a container but I’m not used to hold water
I hold coins but I’m not a purse
I’m associated with St Patrick’s Day but I’m not a shamrock
I’m found at the end of a rainbow but I’m not a leprechaun

Gold Coins Riddles

January 6, 2015 By Stephen Pepper

Here are some rhyming riddles for kids where the answer is gold coins.

These are therefore good for using with some of our other themes like our money or pirate riddles, especially if you’re planning activities for a kids pirate birthday party.

The coins to the right are also perfect for using as prizes for children who can correctly answer one of these riddles.

If you come across a treasure map
What it leads you to might be great
If it’s lots of shiny currency
Also known as pieces of eight

~

If you’re not sure this money’s real
To test them you just might
Put them between your teeth
And try to take a bite

~

If you follow a treasure map
At the end of a successful quest
You might hope to find this inside
Of the buried treasure chest
