Mummy Riddles

October 17, 2013 By Stephen Pepper

Here are several different mummy riddles for kids.

These are perfect for when you’re organizing scary games, monster activities, Halloween parties or asking riddles about movies.

One of these is a riddle that asks the question What Am I? If you want to use this one, read the first line to your kids and get them to guess what they think the answer is.

If they get it wrong, read out the second clue and have them guess again. Continue doing this until they guess that the answer is ‘mummy’, or they run out of clues.

Beneath these are all kinds of different mummy goodies – movies, toys, educational items, costumes and more.

Many of these would make good prizes, especially when playing games like the toilet paper mummy.

If you are an archaeologist
And you dig up an old tomb
Beware this monster wrapped in linen
Or else you might meet your doom

~

The next answer that
Should escape your lips
Should be the creature
Wrapped up in cloth strips

~

This body wrapped in cloth
Was a Pharaoh it’s said
Wait, is his arm moving?
Uh-oh – he’s now undead!

~

What Am I?

I’m wrapped up but I’m not a gift
I’ve been preserved but I’m not something you’d eat
I was buried but I’m not a treasure chest
I’m often associated with Egypt but I’m not a pyramid
I come back to life in movies but I’m not a zombie

~

This body has no ears or tongue
So he’s not able to use phones
Tickling doesn’t work on him
Because he’s only made of bones

~

To see what a ribcage looks like
This body can help clue you in
As all you can see are its bones
It doesn’t have muscle or skin

~

You can see my humerus
But it doesn’t mean I’m funny
I’ve got no skin so I don’t get tanned
When outside it’s hot and sunny

October 16, 2013 By Stephen Pepper

On this page we have a number of different riddles about bats written specially for kids.

The rhyming riddles could be used as part of an activity looking at nature or different types of animals, or with our other riddles about vampires and Halloween.

The final riddle also asks the question What Am I? When using this with kids, read them the first line and get them to guess what they think the answer is.

If they’re not right, read out the second line and then have them guess again. Keep going until they work out the correct answer or they run out of clues.

There are also some ideas below for possible bat-themed prizes and costumes if you’re using these as part of a game or at a party.

These winged creatures often scare people
If you touch one you are brave
They’re often found just hanging out
Upside down inside a cave

~

If you see one flying around
You’d better be careful at night
As some turn into vampires
And will give your neck a big bite

~

The fact this mammal has webbed wings
Makes it a one of a kind
And contrary to the saying
None of these creatures are blind

~

This is a unique type of mammal
As its webbed wings mean that it can fly
They can find their way using echoes
For flying in both caves and the sky

~

It’s black, furry and flies about
Try not to be scared if you can
It likes to hang out upside down
And Bruce Wayne is this type of man

~

What Am I?

I’m black but I’m not a marker pen
I’m a mammal but I’m not a whale
I can fly but I’m not a plane
I go before ‘man’ to make a superhero but I’m not a spider
I might be found in a cave but I’m not a stalagmite

Broomstick Riddles

October 15, 2013 By Stephen Pepper

Here are six riddles for kids where the answer is a broomstick.

Most of them are rhyming riddles and are great for using for Halloween games or any kind of activities that have a magic, witches and wizards or Harry Potter theme.

The final one is a little different though as it’s a What Am I riddle. With this one, you should read the clue that’s on the first line to your kids and get them to guess the answer.

If they’re not correct, read the second clue and have them guess again. Keep going until they guess that the answer’s broomstick or until there are no more clues.

If you like these ideas, you may also like our riddles about witches and Halloween.

I am a household item
Which is used to sweep inside
And I’m a mode of transport
As I’m something witches ride

~

It is thanks to this item
That you can sweep the floor
It’s also used by witches
So they can fly and soar

~

They are sometimes used for sweeping
And might also be used by a witch
It was the Firebolt model
Harry Potter rode to play Quidditch

~

This is something you can sweep with
But be careful as it just may
Get stolen by an evil witch
Who will use it to fly away

~

Unless you are cleaning the house
Try not to be caught with this thing
As people may think you’re a witch
And are about to go flying

~

What Am I?

I have bristles but I’m not a toothbrush
I have a handle but I’m not a door
I can be used in the kitchen but I’m not a microwave
I can be sat on but I’m not a chair
I’m used by witches but I’m not a cauldron

A crooked nose
And a black hat
Wart on her face
Now who is that?

~

Oz had good ones from the north and south
And wicked ones from the east and west
But flying around on a broomstick
Is probably how they are known best

~

What was my favorite thing at school?
Well now, that would be telling
But as I do lots of magic
You could say it was spelling

~

Standing round a cauldron
Doing lots of magic
You’d better hope and pray
Their spells don’t make you sick

~

You might find one on a broomstick
Or boiling eye of newt
One of them made Snow White sick
By giving her poisoned fruit

~

I like to do magic and ride on a broomstick
