Cow Riddles

June 18, 2015 By Stephen Pepper

We’re continuing our series of animal riddles today with a few where cow is the answer.

In addition to the animal theme, these also group together well with our other riddles for kids with a farm, food and nature theme.

The first three of these rhyme, while the fourth is a What Am I? riddle. With that final idea, read the first line to your kids and get them to guess what they think the answer is.

If they’re incorrect, read them the second clue and get them to guess again. Keep going until they either guess that the answer is a cow or they run out of clues.

You might find these in a field
If they have horns I’d be wary
The females produce white stuff
That gets classified as dairy

~

They live in a field
Milk is what they make
They help give us leather
And a juicy steak

~

They sometimes wear a bell
But never a rattle
A group’s known as a herd
Or sometimes as cattle

~

What Am I?

I sometimes have a bell but I’m not a bicycle
I have four legs but I’m not a dog
I have calves but I’m not referring to my legs
I’m found on a farm but I’m not a pig
I provide milk but I’m not a coconut

Chicken Riddles

June 11, 2015 By Stephen Pepper

Today’s set of riddles for kids all have ‘chicken’ as their answer.

These are ideal for using with many of our other riddles themes like food, birds, animals, farms, nature and more.

The first three of these are rhyming riddles, while the fourth asks your kids What Am I?

To use that last idea, read them the first line and get them to guess the answer. If they’re not correct, read them the second line and get them to guess again.

Keep going until they either realize that the answer is chicken or they run out of clues.

You can eat its wings
Its breast and its legs
Plus when it’s alive
You can eat its eggs

~

You might be called this animal
If someone thinks that you’re afraid
This is something that you might eat
As well as its eggs that it laid

~

This bird, it can be eaten
Breaded, roasted, boiled or fried
And why did it cross the road?
To get to the other side

~

What Am I?

I’m found on a farm but I’m not a tractor
I can be roasted but I’m not a peanut
I have feathers but I’m not a pillow
I’m fowl but I’m not disgusting
I lay eggs but I’m not an ostrich

Banana Riddles

April 16, 2015 By Stephen Pepper

We’re finishing our series of food riddles for now, with today’s bunch all having the answer of ‘banana.’

These are therefore also good to use if you’re looking for some riddles specifically abut fruit.

The first three of these are rhyming riddles, while the fourth is a What Am I? riddle.

With that fourth option, read the first line of it to your kids and get them to take a guess at what it is that’s being described.

If they’re not right, move on to the second clue and have them guess again. Keep going until they correctly guess ‘banana’ as the answer, or until they run out of clues.

My color is yellow
And I grow on trees
I’m a popular food
With apes and monkeys

~

I am a yellow fruit
That you might eat at lunch
When there’s a group of me
We are known as a bunch

~

I am a fruit that’s curved
Although I am not round
Don’t slip up on my skin
If it’s dropped on the ground

~

What Am I?

I can be split but I’m not a check in a restaurant
I get peeled but I’m not a potato
I grow on trees but I’m not an orange
I’m yellow but I’m not a lemon
I’m curved but I’m not a boomerang

Popcorn Riddles

April 14, 2015 By Stephen Pepper

We’re continuing with our series of riddles for kids that are related to food, with ‘popcorn’ being the answer of today’s set.

Three of these rhyme, with the fourth being a What Am I? riddle. To use that fourth idea, your children should read the first line of it and guess what they think is the answer.

If they’re incorrect, they should read the second line and guess again. Keep going until they get the right answer or they run out of clues.

If you go see a movie
You have to get some of this
And then add butter or salt
For a taste that’s simply bliss

~

When you go to the movies
It’s a traditional snack
It also comes with peanuts
In a pack of Cracker Jack

~

If you went to the cinema
And I wasn’t there, I’d be missed
I need to be heated up well
In order for me to exist

~

What Am I?

I sometimes come in a bag but I’m not new clothes from a store
I sometimes come in a bucket but I’m not fried chicken
I get bigger when I’m heated but I’m not bread dough
I can be salted but I’m not a french fry
I can be buttered but I’m not a pancake
I’m found at a movie theater but I’m not a ticket

Onion Riddles

April 9, 2015 By Stephen Pepper

Our series of food riddles continues today with a collection that all have ‘onion’ as their answer.

The first three of these rhyme, while the fourth is a What Am I? riddle. If you’re not sure how that final idea works, here’s how to use it.

Read the first line of it to your kids and have them guess the answer. If they’re not correct, read them the second line and have them guess again.

Keep doing this until they get the right answer or they run out of clues.

This is a root vegetable
That can be red, white or green
It can make you cry a lot
Even though it is not mean

~

I am a certain type of bulb
But I don’t give off any light
I can be peeled and chopped up
And am red, yellow, green or white

~

First of all you have to slice them
But don’t cry because of these things
Cover with batter and fry them
You end up with these types of rings

~

What Am I?

I have many layers but I’m not someone wearing winter clothes
I can be red, white or yellow but I’m not a rose
I can be made into rings but I’m not gold
I can be peeled but I’m not a banana
I’m a bulb but I don’t shine
I can make you cry but I’m not a sad movie
