Sunflower Riddles

May 3, 2016 By Stephen Pepper

We’re continuing our series of flower and plant riddles today with five ideas where the answer is a sunflower.

The first four of these rhyme, with the word ‘sunflower’ completing the rhyme of the fourth one.

The fifth one of these is a What Am I riddle. To use that one, read the clue that’s on the first line to your kids and ask them to take a guess at the answer.

As the clue is that it’s something yellow but which isn’t a banana, they might guess that it’s a rubber duck, a school bus, a lemon or The Beatles’ submarine.

If they don’t guess that a sunflower is the answer, read them the clue on the second line and have them take another guess that takes into account this new information. Keep going until they either correctly guess that the answer is a sunflower or until they run out of clues.

Daisy Riddles

April 28, 2016 By Stephen Pepper

Our series of plant and flower riddles continues today with four where the answer is a daisy.

The first three of these are rhyming riddles, with the word ‘daisy’ completing the rhyme of the first one.

The fourth is a What Am I riddle. To use that one, read the first line of it to your kids and have them take a guess at the answer.

As the clue is that it’s someone in Thomas And Friends but who isn’t Gordon, they might guess that it’s James, Percy, Henry or one of the other characters.

If they don’t guess that Daisy is the answer (as she’s a more minor character), read them the clue on the second line and have them guess again. Keep doing this until they either guess the correct answer or they run out of clues.

Lavender Riddles

April 26, 2016 By Stephen Pepper

We started a new series last week where all the riddles are different types of plants or flowers.

We’re continuing that series today with some rhyming riddles for kids that have lavender as their answer. To be honest, we struggled to come up with ideas for this one, so there are only a few riddles for lavender below!

Mistletoe Riddles

April 21, 2016 By Stephen Pepper

We’re starting a new series today where we’re going to be publishing lots of riddles for kids about different types of plants and flowers.

Today’s collection all have mistletoe as their answer, so these are also perfect for using with our other Christmas riddles.

The first four of these rhyme, while the fifth asks your kids What Am I?

To use that final idea, read the first line of it to your children and have them guess the answer. As the clue is that it’s something which is hung but which isn’t a picture, they’ll probably guess that it’s a coat or some other item of clothing.

If they don’t guess that the answer is mistletoe after this first clue, read them the clue on the second line and have them take another guess now that they have some additional information. Keep doing this until they either guess correctly or they run out of clues.

I encourage people to kiss but I’m not Cupid

Vase Riddles

February 3, 2015 By Stephen Pepper

Continuing with our Valentine’s Day theme, here are some riddles for kids where the answer to each one is ‘vase’.

The first three of these are rhyming riddles, while the fourth asks What Am I?

To use the fourth idea, your child should read the first line (or you could read it to them) and then guess what item they think is being described.

If they’re incorrect, they should read the second clue and guess again. Keep going until your kid either guesses the correct answer or runs out of clues.

Someone else has just bought her

I hold flowers but I’m not a flower girl at a wedding
