Gingerbread House Riddles For Kids

With four walls and a roof
Icing and candy all around
It looks just like the place
Hansel and Gretel could be found

~

You might make this at Christmas
So that you can stuff your face
A cake, icing and candy
An edible dwelling place

~

If you put it together
And then you decorate
Then you end up with a home
You can eat off a plate

Bell Riddles

December 4, 2013 By Stephen Pepper

Here are several different riddles for kids where the answer is ‘bell’ or ‘bells’.

These are therefore great for using with all our other Christmas riddles.

Most of these are rhyming riddles, while the final one is a What Am I? riddle.

To use the What Am I? idea, read the first line of it to your kids and have them guess what they think the answer is.

If they guess incorrectly, read them the second clue and have them guess again. Keep going until they work out the correct answer or they run out of clues.

5 Bell Riddles For Kids

Bell Riddles For Kids

Shiny and metallic
But not a piece of bling
They’re there to make a noise
Shake them and they will ring

~

These things are made of metal
You might have lots or just a single
If you give them a good shake
The noise that they make is a jingle

~

If you hear these jingling around
The night just before Christmas Day
You had better try to get to sleep
As you are hearing Santa’s sleigh

~

They might mark the start of church
Or signal day’s end at schools
You might have one by the door
So you know when someone calls

~

What Am I?

I’m made of metal but I’m not a saucepan
I have a lip but I don’t have any teeth
I have a clapper but I don’t have any hands
I can ring but I’m not a phone
I can peal but I’m not a banana
I can jingle but I’m not music in an advertisement

4 Reindeer Riddles For Kids

Reindeer Riddles For Kids

When going around the world
This animal can find the way
It goes to every country
While helping pull Santa’s sleigh

~

One of these is Cupid
But it doesn’t have a bow
Instead it pulls a sleigh
Through the air and lands on snow

~

You might never see one of these
As you should be asleep in bed
They stop by your house once a year
And one has a nose that is red

~

This animal sounds like it’s going to precipitate on someone important to you

Holly Riddles

November 28, 2013 By Stephen Pepper

These are therefore great for using with many of our other riddle themes like:

  • Christmas
  • Winter
  • Nature
  • Plant

The first few of these rhyme; with the third one, the word ‘Holly’ completes the riddle.

The fourth one is a one line riddle and the final option is a What Am I riddle.

If they don’t guess correctly, read them the second clue and get them to guess again. Keep going until they either get the correct answer or run out of clues.

5 Holly Riddles For Kids

Holly Riddles For Kids

Prick yourself at Christmas
This leaf might be to blame
It has the same title
As a certain girl’s name

~

If you gather a lot of this
Your Christmas wreath should look grand
Be careful how you hold it though
As the prickles may hurt your hand

~

If you want to pick up this leaf
Holding tightly might be folly
Because it’s easy to get pricked
When you touch a piece of _ _ _ _ _

~

This girl with a name like a winter plant might be a little prickly

~

What Am I?

I’m green but I’m not a pea
I’m seen at Christmas but I’m not a Christmas tree
I have the same name as a girl but I’m not an iris
I’m prickly but I’m not a cactus
I’m part of a Christmas carol’s name but I’m not ivy

4 Snow Angel Riddles For Kids

Snow Angel Riddles For Kids

If you lay down in white flakes
Out in the winter air
Move your arms and legs about
What is it you leave there?

~

This is something everyone loves doing
It can always take away a frown
It looks just like you’re doing jumping jacks
Outside in the winter laying down

~

After the snowflakes have fallen
Laying in it is on my mind
Moving my arms and legs around
What is it that I leave behind?

~

What Am I?

I’m white but I’m not a sheet of paper
I’m something you leave behind but I’m not litter
I’m found on the ground but I’m not a sand castle
I’m made of precipitation but I’m not a puddle
I’m made by you moving your arms and legs but I’m not a jumping jack
