Tomato Riddles

Here are four riddles for kids where the answer is a tomato. These are therefore perfect for using with our other vegetable, fruit and food riddles.

The first three of these are rhyming riddles, with the word ‘tomato’ completing the rhyme of the third one.

The fourth of these ideas is a What Am I riddle. To use that one, read the clue that’s on the first line to your kids and ask them to try guessing what they think the answer could be. As the clue is that it’s something that’s red but which isn’t a stop sign, they might guess that it’s a sports car, a strawberry or lipstick.

If they don’t guess that a tomato is the answer, read your children the second clue and have them guess again. Keep going until they either work out that the answer is a tomato or they run out of clues.

Apple Riddles

For the last few weeks we’ve been publishing a series of fruit riddles. We’re continuing that series today with six that all have an apple as the answer.

The first five of these rhyme, with the word apple going in the missing space of the fourth riddle.

The sixth of these is a What Am I riddle. To use that one, read the clue that’s on the first line to your kids and ask them to guess the answer.

As the clue is that it’s something that has skin but which isn’t a person, they might guess that it’s an animal, a banana or a potato.

If they don’t guess that the answer is an apple, read them the second clue and ask them to try guessing again. Keep doing this until they either guess that an apple is the answer or they run out of clues.

Strawberry Riddles

Today we’re continuing our series of fruit riddles for kids with four where the answer is a strawberry.

The first three of them rhyme, with the word ‘strawberry’ completing the rhyme of the third riddle.

The fourth asks your children What Am I? To use that idea, read them the clue that’s on the first line and have them take a guess at what they think it is that you’re describing.

As the clue is that it’s something red that isn’t a stop light, they might guess that it’s a pepper, a rose, a London bus or a heart.

If they don’t guess that it’s a strawberry, read them the clue on the second line and have them take another guess. Keep going until they either realize that a strawberry is the answer or until they run out of clues.

Pineapple Riddles

Our series of fruit riddles continues today with four where the answer is a pineapple.

The first three of them are rhyming riddles for kids, with the word ‘pineapple’ completing the rhyme of the third one.

The fourth idea is a What Am I riddle. To use that one, read the first line of it to your children and ask them to guess the answer. As the clue is that it’s something with hard skin but which isn’t a rhinoceros, they will probably guess some other animal like an elephant.

If they don’t guess that it’s a pineapple, read them the clue on the second line and ask them to take another guess. Keep doing this until they either guess correctly that a pineapple is the answer or they run out of clues.

The first three of them rhyme (with the word ‘lime’ completing the rhyme of the third one), while the fourth asks your children What Am I?

To use that fourth idea, read the clue that’s on the first line to your kids and have them guess the answer. As the clue is that it’s something the size of an egg but which isn’t a pebble, they might guess that it’s a hamster, a candlestick holder or a small bar of soap.

If they don’t guess that a lime is the answer, read them the second clue and ask them to try guessing again. Keep doing this until they either work out that it’s a lime that you’re describing or they run out of clues.
